In 2014, BMW will bring to market the new, redesigned M3 Coupe. Our own sources say the company is still toying with the idea of rebadging the M3 Coupe as theM4, but that decision has yet to be finalized. While the M3 sedan will carry the internal code F80, the M4 coupe takes on the F82 internal designation.

The design of the 2014 BMW M3 Coupe (or M4 for that matter) will build atop the upcoming 4 Series, due out in 2013. The M version of the popular coupe will incorporate the typical M design cues, both on the inside and outside, with the typical wide track, an M front bumper, full LED headlights, and the signature four exhaust pipes at the rear.

The biggest dilemma comes from under the hood. BMW announced in the past that the current generation M3 is the last one to be offered with the award-winning V8 naturally aspirated engine. Therefore, a new engine will now power the iconic M. What we do know for sure is that the powerplant will now use six cylinders, but will it be an inline-six turbo or a newly designed V6? The rumor mill is cranking overtime and different opinions surface almost every month with most of them favoring the turbocharged sixer as the final choice. The runner-up V6 was said to be a 3.3 liter BiTurbo engine with around 450 horsepower.

An interesting piece of information comes from Road and Track, quoting Albert Biermann, head of product development at M, who states that the new M3 or M4 will not have torque vectoring; instead, look for an electronically controlled differential as found in the M5.

The engine is expected to be mated to a dual-clutch transmission, but we won’t be surprised if a manual box will be offered for the U.S. customers.

Created by lacoski.com, the new computer generated images reveal a stunning M4 coupe with the typical sporty lines of a coupe and aggressive stance. The dominating M4 stands out with a sporty fascia enhanced by the bumper with air curtains and the blacked out grill.

On the side, the character line flows from the rear to the front, surrounded by concave and convex shapes that give the car a dynamic look. The enhanced fenders come to complete the dominating and imposing look. At the rear, the M4 renderings resemble the recently unveiled M5, with the diffuser integrated into the rear bumper and including the signature dual twin-exhaust pipes. A subtle, yet much needed trunk lid give the car an aggressive look from the rear as well.

The overall look is further improved by the large, blacked out wheels.

BMW will offer the new M3/M4 in three body variants: sedan, coupe and convertible. The M3 sedan will carry the internal code F80, while the M4 coupe takes on the F82 label. A major change in the upcoming M3 and M4 models come from the power under the hood. The highly-acclaimed V8 naturally-aspirated engine is being retired and replaced by a more efficient, yet powerful, six-cylinder unit.

Our sources say that for the past year BMW has been testing different powerplants in M3 prototypes, from inline-six turbo engines, to a newly designed and unique V6. Opinions continue to remain split, even among our team, on whether BMW will commit a “blasphemy” by offering the M3 and M4 with a V6 unit. In a future article we will outline the pros and cons of an inline-six and V6 engine.

bmw ve audi'yi anlayamıyorum. neredeyse tüm rakamları kullandılar. zaten audi yakında aa1, aa2... ab1 diye devam edecek

Eski 5 serisinini bir karakteri vardı onu 3 serisine benzeterek bitirdiler bence.Bu 4 de 3 e veya 5 e benzemiş.

Ön görünümü çok hoşuma gitti. Güzel tasarlamışlar ama ben yine de 2000 model BMW 5 serisinden vazgeçmem, araba O'dur. :D

BMW dediğin M3 olur gerisi hikaye, ne öyle 4 vs. bize göre değil. Loto'dan para çıksa da alsak. :D
